Firefly Lane

I have some TERRIBLE NEWS. Summer is almost over. The kids are going back to school. The teachers are returning to work (ME). The heat will slowly disappear. The swimming pool will no longer have its visitors. Hurricane season. Finally, there will be less time to read your summer books!!!

With a few weeks left of summer, I have a great recommendation for you. FIREFLY LANE by Kristin Hannah. I read this book in about 2 days when I traveled long and far to Hawaii and back. It's almost 500 pages, but you get so engulfed with the storyline, characters, and drama that before you know it, you are halfway done!

This story is about two girls who become best friends and you follow them through their lives as they grow up making life choices, including careers, families, and more. While there are elements of falling in love and such, the major focus and theme is about friendship. The friendship you find in this book is pretty solid with a lot of uphill peaks of happiness and downward spirals of anger and jealousy. At one point in the book, one of the girls betrays her friend in an ugly way for selfish reasons. Will the friendship endure? Or is betrayal the turning point in a lifelong friendship?

I laughed and got that choked up feeling in my throat throughout the entire novel. You will surely enjoy this book! Here is the link to Amazon so you can read the first several pages of it: Firefly Lane.

Happy reading. Happy summer!!!

P.S.
