This here is the only chili recipe I have ever made. I haven't even bothered trying another recipe because this one is so good! I often add brisket to it to make it super protein packed!!
Also, if you want to make plenty for leftovers, you should definitely triple this recipe.
3/4 lb lean ground beef
1 C chopped onion
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 can dark red kidney beans, rinsed and drained
1/2 can black beans, rinsed and drained
1 14.5 oz can diced tomatoes (I sometimes do Muir Glen fire roasted)
1 8 oz can tomato sauce
2-3 t chili powder
1/2 dried basil, crushed
pinch of salt and pepper
In a large saucepan, cook ground beef, onion, and garlic until meat is browned and onion tender. Drain. Stir in beans, tomatoes, tomato sauce, chili powder, basil, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat, covered, for 20 minutes.
